Hey my name is Don Henson and I am a 28 year old professional adventure photographer. I am currently based out of Orange County, CA but started my photography in the great state of Washington. I have always had a love for exploring and the unknown, thats what makes this all so fun. Before photography I used to tour manage bands which brought me all over the world, and really jump started my love for travel. There is no better experience than seeing the world with your best friends. Shortly after I started photography I made my way into the branding and marketing world, which has been an incredible experience. I have to admit my first camera was an iPhone but now I shoot on Sony gear. I look forward to where life’s adventure takes me next.

Do you remember the first time you picked up a camera?
I grew up in a house where my dad would easily take 500 photos on a vacation and this is back when you had to buy film, so I’ve always been around cameras. I truly fell in love with being a photographer about a year ago, when I realized how many places it had already taken me and that I may actually have a shot to do it for a living.

Favorite source for inspiration?
It’s hard to pick one place out since each have their own memories. I think for me Jasper Park in the Canadian Rockies would be the place I talk about most. For one it is an absolutely gorgeous destination but the people are truly what make it stand out. Everyone there is so kind and has such an appreciation for where they live and respect for the environment, it’s pretty humbling.
Tell us about your latest adventure...
Most recently I had a chance to visit Glacier National Park in Montana. I set out with 4 friends to create amazing memories. We camped in two different locations over four nights and what an amazing trip it was. We spent tons of time driving, eating at diners, and taking photos. The most memorable moments had to be the wildlife. We encountered 3 bears and loads of elk. The craziest time was at our campsite near many glacier, we had a mother moose and her baby literally right next to our campsite, no more than 10 feet away, beautiful and terrifying. It is a place i highly recommend and look forward to going back to soon.
Favorite song on the road?
Between my love for Hip-Hop and Indie I am usually playing Lord Huron, Fleet Foxes, or A$AP Ferg. If I had to pic just one it would be Lonesome Dreams by Lord Huron though.
Any current books you're working on?
I wish I read more, it’s actually on the to do list for this year. Into Thin Air would have to be my top, who doesn’t love John Krakauer, the man is a legend.
How'd you hear about Just Chill?
My good friend Daniel Malikyar has worked on campaigns with Just Chill in the past. He had nothing but great things to say about it, so I was excited when you guys wanted to work with me too.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Well it’s hard to say with a lifestyle and career that takes you so many places. I guess I hope to have a family and to still be doing what I love. I think back to the show The Wild Thronberrys, that life seems like something I could get into.
One spot to visit in your hometown
I’m from a town in Florida called Palm Coast which sits right along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. I always go to the beach first and then go get food at this amazing restaurant called Thai by Thai, it is incredible.
Any last words?
Your life is what you make of it so go outside, get lost, and be weird. Get out of your comfort zone because those are usually the memories that your look back on and appreciate the most.
